How to grapple in Saros

Summary

Learn how to grapple in Saros, including how grappling works and when you can access it in the story.

Saros doesn't try to hide the fact you'll eventually learn how to grapple because there are containers and items on platforms that you cannot reach, but there's always a small blue circle nearby. Problem is, you could be playing Saros for ages and still not unlock the grappling hook, depending on how skilled you are at the game. The odd grapple ledge may have ways to jump and dash over, if the terrain and level layout permits, but otherwise, you're out of luck.

Here are the details on how to grapple in Saros and when you unlock the grappling hook.

The practical answer is that you cannot grapple until you've reached a specific point in the story. You do not find it by exploring side paths; the ability is given to you eventually, no matter what.

If you're wondering when you'll be able to grapple, you must complete the second biome and reach the remnants of the Echelon III base, which will complete the quest to locate the Soltari signal. After this point, you must return to Passage, where a trip into the Banyan Tree awaits, after a cutscene with Kayla and Sheridan.

On your next run, you'll start at the Shattered Descent biome, where you'll be granted the grappling hook. It's required to get to the next part of the map, so just follow the icon on your HUD. The grapple will let you zip to points with that aforementioned blue circle, alongside some floating drones, so you can cross huge gaps. If you return to biomes you've already visited, you'll also be able to access areas you couldn't previously.
